birthdays, family, & gaga

I opened my reader and I had 732 posts awaiting me.  That, and the fact that I haven't posted since March, is a clear indication that life has gotten busy for me.  Since starting the full-time job in February it has taken me this long to adjust - almost 6 months.

Since that time lots has been going on:

My baby boy, Stevie, turned 21.  I won't even get into the melancholy that that event threw me into.  Oh, the time.  It sure does fly.

My sister Rachael gave birth to her first, Leom Thomas on June 8th.  He is perfection.

My Lizzie has turned 16. Acccckkkk!  She is completely obsessed with cars and thinks her dad should get her a TrailBlazer.  She'll even settle for the earlier Blazer (if she must).  Yeah right!!  Check out the bracelet and little blue box from her grandma!

I sent her off on plane with her best friend to Pensacola.  Just the two of them.  Changing planes.  In. Atlanta.  I felt like a bad mom until I heard that her girlfriend Gabby flew alone to Spain this month to visit her father.  Whew!  Flordia doesn't seem so bad now.

She also marched in the July 4th parade with her cheer team.

My mother became an official member of her beloved Church that she has been attending for years.  She was surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends.  It was definitely a special day for her!

Last week my husband's brother and his family came in from Philly and spent the week at our house.  It was so great to spend time with our nephews. They come in every July to visit and endure enjoy the big annual family reunion of Steve's side of the family.

My son and godson - Stevie and Kyle.

Last, but most definitely not least, I have won the award for BEST AND MOST COOLEST MOM OF THE YEAR.  For my daughter's 16th Birthday I bought her a ticket to Lady Gaga.  Not just any ticket, but a ticket and pass into the "Little Monster Zone".  (If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand).

She was in heaven and made a memory that will last a lifetime.  (Now let's see how long "best mom ever" will last. lol)

DID I MENTION THAT SHE HAD FRONT ROW SEATS???

Have a great Sunday!!

Treading water

It has been two weeks since I last posted. Ack!
That is pretty much an indication of how my life has been going lately.
This new full-time gig has me treading water, trying to stay afloat.
Now that I am career mom, I dream that I somehow should feel like this:

Instead I actually feel more like this:

While getting used to this new sleepless schedule I have had time to enjoy a few things,
like their beautiful wedding:

An evening spent with this cutie:

And a fun-filled girls’ weekend away enjoying this:

If you recall my post about these beauties, I have finally gotten my hands on a video of the actual performance.

I have also found some time to enjoy this:

and this:

Right now I am just making it through day by day, which IS getting easier each week.
I am also anticipating going back here in a few weeks:

(I think it might be easier to keep my head above water in that ocean than where I am at right now.)

Baby Shower monkey business.

During the past four months or so I have been having intense baby cravings.  It makes no sense.  My babies are 15 and 20 years old.  Do I seriously want to go through all of that again?  Maybe it was the fact that I turned 40 in September?  Maybe my hormones are doing a loopty-loo?

Well it turns out it's all good, because my baby sister is expecting a baby!
She will satisfy my cravings with a darling bundle of yummy baby boy.
All of the love and fun - none of the work.  Boo-ya!

I call her my baby sister because I am 40 and she is 26.  This is her first little one.  I am so excited for her.  Being her only sister I naturally staked claim to throwing the Baby Shower.  Can I just say I'm getting a little obsessive over this?  I am having all the pre-baby fun without the morning sickness, aching back, and weight gain.  I am coming up with fabulous baby names, dishing out baby advice like any annoying big sister should, and planning a fabulous Baby Shower.

Here is the Bedding Set that she has chosen for her little boy in the colors of green, brown, and orange.  With monkeys!

How fun is that??

I am having too good of a time coming up with ideas for the Baby Shower including games, food, and decorations.  I played around a little with a Baby Shower mood board.
What do you think?

Baby Shower

So dear readers, any ideas for me?  Must-have decorations, fun games, or delicious food ideas?

It's been quite some time since I have been to a Baby Shower.  I would love to have your suggestions.

Lay it on me.

Christmas 2009

Christmas Eve – We went to services at my mother’s church.  The theme was Joy To The World.  They had members of the church come up and read bible verses in different languages.  Then they each took turns singing the chorus of Silent Night in their native language – Polish, Arabic, Mandarin, Cambodian, Jula, German, Slovenian, and more.  It was so cool!
